Abstract
Charles Crutchfield (1912-1998) started his career as an announcer and radio programmer for a variety of radio stations in the Carolinas. In the 1933 he joined the WBT staff, where he became famous for putting together the “Briarhoppers.” Crutchfield stayed at the station and its parent company until retiring in 1977 as president of the Jefferson-Pilot Broadcasting Company. Abstract
Created in August 1965, WTVI (also known as PBS Charlotte) is the public service television station that serves Charlotte, North Carolina. This collection contains newspaper clippings, VHS tapes, and internal documents from WTVI Citizens Committee, which are comprised of private citizens appointed by the school board to help determine programming for the education channel WTVI. Materials are dated 1968-1998 and in good condition.
