This collection contains business records for local businesses in Pineville, North Carolina. A majority of the collection contains pharmaceutical records and prescriptions from the Pineville Drug Company, as well as financial records, checks, cashier correspondence, and ledgers from the Merchants & Farmers Bank. Materials are dated 1902-1965, with the bulk of the collection dated 1923-1933. Materials are in fair/poor condition. The collection is arranged into 6 series:
Series 1: Banks, 1902-1959, contains records from American Trust Company, Bank of Kershaw, Bank of Pineville, Commercial and Savings Bank, First National Bank, Farmers Bank & Trust, Independence Trust Co., Merchants & Farmers Bank, Pineville Loan & Savings Bank, Union National Bank of Charlotte, and Waccamaw Bank. Examples of records in this series include cashier correspondence, checks, account receipts, ledgers, check registers, and seal embossers for the Pineville Merchants & Farmers Bank and the Pineville Savings Bank.
Series 2: Business, 1911-1933, contains records from F.W. Craigie & Co., JKA Alexander Real Estate Rental, National Security Fire Insurance Co., Niven Mercantile, North Carolina Inspection and Rating Bureau, W.L. Hall General Merchandise. Examples of materials in this collection include reports, receipts, policies, correspondence, and tape roll.
Series 3: Correspondence, 1908-1932 (bulk), contains correspondence to a variety of businessmen.
Series 4: Military, 1920-1927 (bulk), contains blank financial forms for military persons, a United Spanish War Veterans membership application, and schedule of note redemptions for veterans.
Series 5: Miscellaneous, 1920-1933, contains miscellaneous documents relating to deeds and land records, court summons, blank individual tax return form, title application, car insurance policies, and blueprints for First Presbyterian Church.
Series 6: Pharmacy, 1923-c1940s, mostly contains pharmacy prescriptions from the Pineville Drug Company and other local pharmacies in Pineville.

Abstract
Douglas Corwin was a pharmacist in Pineville, North Carolina. Prior to leaving North Carolina for Wisconsin c2004, he and his wife their collection donated this collection of Pineville materials to local institutions so that the information would be retained in the area.
This collection contains business records for local businesses in Pineville, North Carolina. A majority of the collection contains pharmaceutical records and prescriptions from the Pineville Drug Company, as well as financial records, checks, cashier correspondence, and ledgers from the Merchants & Farmers Bank. Materials are dated 1902-1965, with the bulk of the collection dated 1923-1933.

This collection was donated to the Robinson-Spangler Carolina Room by Mr. and Mrs. Douglas Corwin in August 2004.
Condition Description
Overall, collection is in fair condition, with the exception of some bank records and prescriptions in poor condition.
