This collection contains minute books, ledgers, business records, manuals, promotional materials, photographs, newspaper clippings, and scrapbooks relating to the Southern Radio Company. Materials are in good condition, dated 1930-1998, and arranged into 4 series:

Series 1: Business Records, 1930-1998, contains bound minutes (1930-1998); loose records (1920-1985), such as financial statements, marketing information, reports, company history, distribution, memos, company directories, and correspondence; technical manuals (1950-1955); and newspaper clippings (1930-1990).

Series 2: Ledgers, 1930-1985, includes ledgers with information on stockholders' names, transactions, customer accounts, bookkeeping, and a journal of day-to-day credits and debits.

Series 3: Photographs, 1920-1980, includes both black and white and color photographs of various sizes.

Series 4: Scrapbooks

Abstract

The Southern Radio Company operated from 1930-1998 as a distributor of radios, record players, televisions, and home appliances. Its clients were independent electronics dealers throughout the Southeast. Its first quarters were in the J.A. Jones building on 208 S. Tryon St., but it relocated to 1625 W. Morehead St. in 1950, and remained there until closure.

This collection contains minute books, ledgers, business records, manuals, promotional materials, photographs, newspaper clippings, and scrapbooks relating to the Southern Radio Company.

Arrangement

Collection materials are arranged into 4 series:

Series 1: Business Records, 1930-1998, contains bound minutes (1930-1998); loose records (1920-1985), such as financial statements, marketing information, reports, company history, distribution, memos, company directories, and correspondence; technical manuals (1950-1955); and newspaper clippings (1930-1990).

Series 2: Ledgers, 1930-1985, includes ledgers with information on stockholders' names, transactions, customer accounts, bookkeeping, and a journal of day-to-day credits and debits.
