Content Description

This collection contains three Davidson College Bulletins and copies of The Davidsonian. Bulletins are dated 1948-c1949, and include information student organizations, photos, and campus activities. Newspapers are dated August 22, 1901-November 13, 1964. The newspapers include information on current events, Greek life, student government, and athletics, among other topics. Materials are in good condition and arranged into two series:

Series 1: Davidson College Bulletins, 1948-1949, include bulletins. Series 2: The Davidsonian Newspapers, 1901-1964, includes copies of the student-published newspaper, The Davidsonian.

Abstract

Davidson College, a private liberal arts college located in Davidson, North Carolina, was founded in 1837 by the Concord Presbytery, with the school named in honor of William Lee Davidson, a Revolutionary War general. Formed in March 1914 by student vote, The Davidsonian, an independent student journal, "serves the community of Davidson College and the town of Davidson by reporting pressing and important stories with practices focused on fairness, transparency, and diversity." Students have continued to publish a volume of issues each year since its founding. This collection contains copies of the Davidson College Bulletin in addition to The Davidsonian. Materials are in good condition and dated 1901-1964.
