Content Description
The United Confederate Veterans Collection is a collection that formerly belonged to the Ephemera Collection. It contains items generally relating to the national group, as well as those collected from the Mecklenburg County Confederate Veterans organization, along with materials from the 1929 Confederate Veterans Reunion, which was held in Charlotte. The materials are dated 1861-1932, with the bulk of the collection from the 1920s.

Abstract
The United Confederate Veterans organization was founded in 1889 to unify the all of the separate groups of confederate veterans, provide relief for veterans and their families, and erect monuments. Reunions were held each year in various southern locations, with the last held in Norfolk, Virginia, in 1951 (as of 2016).
This collection includes artifacts, documents, newspaper clippings, and publications. Materials are dated 1861-1932.

There are six series in this collection:
Series 1, Artifacts, undated- includes one confederate flag
Series 2, Clippings, 1917-1918- newspaper clippings regarding Confederate veterans
Series 3, Reunions, 1890s and 1929- subseries include artifacts, correspondence, and programs relating to reunions
Series 4, Postcards, 1902- contains one Christmas postcard
Series 5, Publications, 1921 and 1929- includes two publications about the Confederacy and Stonewall Jackson
Series 6: Club Records, 1861-1865 and 1931-1932- contains lists of officers, record books, and rosters.
