This collection contains meeting minutes and annually distributed programs with information on monthly gatherings. Each program contains discussion topics, officers, and committee members with their addresses, telephone numbers, meeting date, hostess, and presenter. Materials dated 1925-1967 and arranged in chronological order within each series.

The Fortnightly Book Club was organized in the early twentieth century to discuss books on a variety of topics. This collection contains notebooks and programs relating to the Fortnightly Book Club. The notebooks consist of meeting minutes and general notes about the members, what they were reading, and where/what time they met. In the programs, information covered the clubs officers, program committee, members, hostess, and book lists. Materials in this collection are dated 1925-1967.


There are 2 series in this collection:

Series 1: Meeting Minutes, 1925-1965. Contains detailed notes from meetings.

Series 2: Programs, 1926-1967. Includes information on book topic, hostess, meeting date and location, and other miscellaneous details relating to the group and their meetings.

Within each series, materials are arranged chronologically.

Immediate Source of Acquisition

This collection was donated to the Robinson-Spangler Carolina Room by the Fortnightly Book Club in February 1975.

Condition Description

Materials are in good/fair condition. Books are fragile.
