The Boy Scouts of America-Charlotte Collection consists of items relating to the Charlotte branch of the Boy Scouts.
Materials in this collection include a plaque, two scrapbooks, and wooden nickel from the Charlotte Lone Scout Rally. The plaque, is inscribed “Thomas W. Bird, Council President, 1946.” One scrapbook states that it was made by Beaumont Whitton during the 1927-1928 school year and is comprised of mostly newspaper clippings from the Charlotte Observer, along with some ticket stubs, postcards, and programs. The second scrapbook is dated 1940-1954 and contains programs for the Annual Meeting, newspaper clippings, programs, and some correspondence.
Materials are in good condition and dated 1927-1954, with the bulk of the collection dated 1940-1946.

Abstract
The Boy Scouts of America (BSA) was founded in February 1910 by William D. Boyce, and officially chartered in 1916. Charlotteans made an attempt to form a troop in 1910, but the first Boy Scout troop in Charlotte was formed in 1913 at Holy Comforter Episcopal on South Boulevard. A second troop formed at the YMCA in 1914, and by 1940, the local Boy Scouts became known as the Mecklenburg County Council Boy Scouts of America.
This collection consists of two scrapbooks, plaque, and wooden nickel. Materials are in good condition and dated 1927-1965, with the bulk of materials dated 1940-1946.
