Abstract
James Latta (1755-1837) was an early settler in Mecklenburg County who immigrated from Ireland in 1785. The home he built, Latta Plantation, is in Huntersville, NC near Mountain Island Lake. It was built in 1800 as a cotton plantation and serves as a living history farm on a 1,343 acre nature preserve.
