Abstract
The Mecklenburg Citizens for Better Libraries (MCBL) was founded in 1967 as a local unit of the statewide Citizens for Better Libraries organization. The goal of the organization was to raise standards and provide library service to everyone in the county by encouraging collaboration among all the libraries within a 50-mile radius of Charlotte.
